Beautiful. Functional. Natural. Quality. Sustainable.
We want your help!
We are trying to raise money for time and materials to replace the aging version of our community Little Free Library. Originally made from old kitchen cupboard doors, its done some hard work for a number of years- withstood rain, snow and hail, held a lot of books and kept things dry. It’s time for version 2! Any amount you’d like to donate helps. Click the Go Fund Me button to donate.
If you have suggestions on the design for version 2, please submit them!
Our Values
We like making stuff out of wood. We think Canada has some of the most beautiful species in the world.
Beautiful - Make things visually stunning and clean. We want to make custom pieces that stand out and are appreciated. Less is more in design.
Functional - Built to be useful with requirements in mind. What good is something custom if it’s not usable?
Natural - Wood only. No screws, epoxy, fillers, stains, paint or toxic chemicals where possible, showing the natural characteristics of the of wood. The beauty of wood is in its blemishes- mineral streaks, worm holes, insect damage and unusual grain patterns. Let’s celebrate Nature.
Quality - Built to last and not disposable. It takes time and energy to build things with your hands, so it should be of good quality. We want things to be used daily.
Sustainable - Woods from North America with heavy emphasis on Canada, like Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Birch, Pine, Ash, Spruce, Poplar or Fir. This reduces the carbon footprint from shipping and the harvesting of rare tree species. Exotic species can also have humidity issues with Canada’s harsh climate.
